This is a typical sunset at Cap Lopez which is just down the coast from the Port Gentil Harbour. The sun drops into the clouds and casts a brilliant red everywhere. Bodysurfing the waves here is a lot of fun, but you have to be careful for the deceiving undertow which carries people around the corner to the ocean every year. This is the beach where I dipped my toes in ocean water for the very first time

This is one of the logs that are the second largest industry in Gabon, washed up on the shore of Voodoo Isle. A lovely little island which is rented by some new friends of mine. They had me over for a day of swimming, cookout, and sunshine with their friends and children. This little island is next to the mouth of a delta river and the current completely changes direction with the tide. I was very surprised by how warm the ocean water is!

Most everyone considers monkeys to be adorable, and I am no different. However, in  about a week I will be travelling to West Africa and there is every possibility that I might see these little creatures.
